This morning we were up well before dawn. My alarm went off at 5:45AM when the darkness of the night seemed to be the deepest. Zack, Lex and I were out of the house and our way to the Bluffs by 6:00AM. I made a quick pit stop at the local Starbucks drive through to get Zack a hot chocolate to keep him warm and then we were off to the Bluffs. As we arrived in the parking lot, color was beginning to spread across the eastern sky. We double timed it for the majority of the .8 miles to the top of the bluffs. I was shocked and surprised to find someone already at the top of the bluff. It was another guy who was doing the same thing I was doing - taking pictures of the sunrise. Though at first I wasn't thrilled about having some one up there sharing our solitude with us, it turned out pretty nice as I had a nice conversation with him and shared tips on good places to hike.
Here are some of the results of my photography efforts. I took a bunch more pictures than this but these are some of the better ones. I'll be back at the Bluffs tonight to catch pictures of the setting sun. I'll be sure to post those also.
If you are wondering how I got the pictures of Zack and me, I had the camera on a tripod and I used the timer. I try and use the timer for every picture when I am taking pictures in low light settings like this.
Thanks and peace to all! ~J.
